in summary
The ancestors connect us

Just as a mother connects her children, a grandmother or grandfather connects his children and grandchildren. The great-grandparents unite the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The circle of people who are connected increases with each generation we trace back. But the ancestors do not only connect people to each other. They also connect us to places, events and fates. They connect us to wars and famines. They connect us with rapes, executions and other blows of fate. They connect us to priests and witch-hunts. They connect us with Semites, Celts and Romans.

Through our ancestors we connect with the origin of life, a place full of magic and mystery. They are a form of religion that can be experienced directly (re-ligio = return connection). They enable us to feel part of that gigantic creative energy that flows through our ancestors to us and that we pass on to our children and descendants.

In this way they also open a way for us to overcome the boundaries of our individual consciousness and to "feel one" through time and space with people who have lived before us and who will live after us.
